Alaska is a great way to spend an exciting day on the water. It is a wonderful way to see some of the worlds’ most exciting and most easily observed cetaceans. Humpback whales are the most common whales seen in the waters around Prince of Wales Island (POW). They are found in all the worlds’ oceans.
We heard of this tour through renneroaming.com. I was debating the private wale watching tour and I'm so glad we booked. Out of the huge itenary I had planned this... read more was by far our favorite part of Alaska! I'm so grateful for our guide Stephanie. I was skeptical to be honest because I was like do I want to be on a boat with a stranger for that long? Answer is heck yes! I cannot say enough good things about this amazing human being. She is very knowledgeable on multiple subjects and her passion shows. We got extremely lucky and saw humpback whales (smelled whale breath eew!), orcas playing, sea otters, seals. We also had time to go this out of this world small trail only accessible by boat. Wow, it felt like another planet it was so gorgeous and green. If Im ever in POW again I would take this tour again in a heartbeat.
My husband after seeing the orcas "I can die now" lol he is obsessed with nature docs.
Tips: bring layers, sunscreen, sunglasses, and water and snacks. She does have a few binoculars on hand. If ur a crazy over preparer like me bring a floating waterproof cover for your phone for sweet pics.
